Self-Love

Recently, I have made it a personal priority to show myself some love! I mean actually taking time at least once a week to show myself appreciation. I often struggle with self image/confidence but always knew in my heart that GOD loves me just the way I am and others do too!  It is important for me to realize my own value and worth. I am taking proactive steps to accept myself the way that I am and move forward in my life.

What is self-love? According to Merriam's dictionary, self -love is regard for one's own well-being and happiness. This is particularly important because I have a holistic approach when caring for my clients and that involves every aspect of one's life.  How can I be teaching and helping others in that capacity and not help myself! Self-love is crucial in order to have stability and peace in every aspect of your life.

How can one show self-love?  According to an article in Psychology Today, Dr. Khoshaba provides a Prescription for Seven Step Self-Love. The steps are listed below:

1.Become mindful: Become aware of your own feelings, wants, thoughts. Act on this knowledge rather than what others want for you

2.Act on needs vs wants: You love yourself more when you can turn away from something that feels good and exciting to what you need to stay strong, centered, and moving forward in your life.

3.Practice good self-care: People high in self-love nourish themselves daily thru healthy activities, like exercise, sound nutrition, proper sleep, intimacy, and healthy social interactions.

4.Set boundaries: You'll love yourself more when you set limits or say no to work, relationships, or activities that deplete or harm your overall well-being

5.Protect yourself: Bring and maintain the right people in your life. Folks who are positive and uplifting.

6.Forgive yourself: We have to learn not to be so hard on ourselves and realize we are only human and will make mistakes. Remember, there are no failures if you have learned and grown from your mistakes: there are only lessons learned.

7.Live intentionally: You will accept and love yourself more despite what is happening in your life when you live with purpose and design. Establish your living intentions and prepare goals in order to achieve them. You will feel good about yourself once you succeed in this purpose.

I hope you have the tools to love yourself and nurture your mind, body and spirit.

God bless you on your journey into greatness!
